The Biggest Challenge of Your Home Theater
and Entertainment
Is
Finding Furniture You Like To House It
The term “Home Theater” originated with the
upscale Hollywood
crowd – people who could afford to build a formal
theater complete with tiered seats and a cinema-sized
screen – in their own home. Today, a Home Theater
usually refers to any room in your home that has a TV
and a stereo with several speakers where you can watch a
movie in surround sound.
Think
Home Theater and Entertainment Furniture First
If you are just starting
out, or don’t know where to begin building your Home
Theater, my best advice: Focus on your entertainment
furniture first – before you buy that new HDTV,
surround receiver and speakers, or whatever. That way
you’ll know how much space you have for storage.
If it’s
too late for that and you already have your
entertainment equipment, the challenge is to find
attractive, well-built Home Theater furniture that you
like, that’s worthy of your home – and that actually
holds the stuff you bought. And that’s not easy.
Sure, your electronics
retailer or local AV professional can help you select
the perfect new HDTV and electronics equipment for your
taste and budget. But you won’t get much help when it
comes to integrating it into your living space with the
style and grace your home deserves.
There’s so much new
technology out there and your TV and stereo options are
virtually endless. But try to find high quality Home
Theater furniture and you’re in for a big
disappointment.
From the flimsy, inexpensive stands and cabinets you see
in most electronics stores…to expensive, high-end
furniture stores that still don’t offer cabinets or
armoires for TV screens larger than 36-inches, the
pickins’ are mighty slim.
I’ve seen hundreds of
people go out and buy an amazing new LCD HDTV and then
struggle for months to find a quality furniture solution
that fits their needs and also looks as tasteful as the
rest of the furniture in their home.
There’s no question
that the right furniture adds to the beauty of your
surroundings and is key to the level of comfort and
enjoyment you’ll derive from your
home theater and entertainment
furniture.
